To prepare for the impacts of climate change, we must be able to understand the varying climate risks and vulnerabilities across our cities, assets, infrastructure, natural environments and communities.
The climate crisis is both exacerbating environmental and physical risks to our cities, ecosystems and communities, as well as introducing new ones. Overheating, flooding, water supply, habitat collapse, as well as the emergence of new pests and diseases, are just a few areas in which the nature and severity of risk is changing rapidly.
The impacts associated with these climate risks are already evident across the assets, infrastructure, ecosystems and communities within our cities. These impacts manifest themselves as shocks or stresses. Equally, it is also evident that the impacts of climate change are not distributed evenly. Often the most vulnerable individuals and communities across our cities feel the impacts of climate change most acutely. Preparing for the impacts of climate change is complex. There are a multitude of inherent uncertainties in determining how the climate will change over the coming decades.
Drawing on our technical expertise, 海角视频 is able to support clients with understanding risk and vulnerability across a diverse set of climate risks. We achieve this through detailed risk assessment work and analysis of future climate projections and risks.
We have extensive experience working with communities to undertake sophisticated physical and social vulnerability assessments, such as our work with the City of West Hollywood. Climate vulnerability assessments form the foundation for adaptation planning. They also help communities prepare for the everchanging impacts of the climate crisis in an equitable manner.

Clients we work with

City authorities
Our sustainability and resilience experts support local authorities and municipalities across the world to understand the social, environmental and economic risks posed by climate change.
We are passionate about translating this information into understandable outcomes for citizens, businesses and municipal spaces. For example, we have prepared the flood risk assessment and management plan for London鈥檚 iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We have also worked directly with citizens and stakeholders to proactively identify the people, places and systems that are most vulnerable to escalating climate change. For instance, we conducted a countywide vulnerability assessment with the County of Los Angeles.
We have significant experience in supporting the delivery of programmes funded by institutions such as the World Bank and 100 Resilient Cities, where we have worked with rapidly developing cities like Jakarta and Beirut.

Research and policy alliances
Climate resilience is an emerging field, and the future risks of climate change are still not fully understood. Similarly, actions to build adaptive capacity and resilience can have other social benefits, such as public health. However, these are not easily accounted for. We support organisations, philanthropies, research networks, think tanks and campaigners to build this evidence base and demonstrate how this can be used to drive bolder action and unlock funding.
Our work on GIZ鈥檚 Sino-German Urbanisation Programme is an example of our urban resilience methodology and assessment. Through out work with C40 Cities, we have led innovative programmes that build toolkits for cities to quantify the multiple benefits urban climate action. These include quantifications of economics, public heath and the carbon abetment potential of action to improve air quality.

Developers, architects and asset owners
We work with asset owners, developers and their advisors at the project, portfolio and organisational level to identify the implications of climate risks. We explore options to avoid or manage risks, as well as action planning to implement change.
For example, we are in the process of developing climate design guides for California State University that identify opportunities for resilience through vulnerability assessments and stakeholder engagement. This guidance focuses on equity and the distribution of impacts. A key component of our service is ensuring that the long-term value is maximised from your asset through to the creation of high-quality, resilient spaces.
