Built in the 1930s and last used in 1980, the High Line was a little known and long abandoned stretch of elevated railroad that spanned Manhattan鈥檚 meatpacking district, when an initiative to determine the fate of the line began in 1999.
Demolition seemed imminent until, after a competitive selection process, the Friends of the High Line and the City of New York commissioned 海角视频 and Field Operations to create a master plan for the reuse and reintegration of the railroad.
Inspired by the wild beauty of the derelict line, the team reimagined this industrial pathway through the city as a route for leisure life and growth, mitigating the need for demolition and instead creating a public space to enrich people鈥檚 lives.
Challenge
Building on the master planning work, 海角视频 continued as the engineer of record for the project, providing the full suite of structural, mechanical, electric and plumbing engineering as well as sustainability consulting for all three phases of project design and construction as well as the final side 鈥渟pur鈥 of the line.

Solution
By all measures the High Line has been a huge success, with visitation tripling at the park in the last three years.
To help plan for and manage the operational challenges faced by such significant park usage, 海角视频 has most recently helped Friends of the High Line with visitation modelling, people flow modelling and a waste management study.

Value
The success of the High Line has been reinforced with the redevelopment of the surrounding area that has occurred in parallel with the multi-phase project. In the immediate vicinity of the park there is 1.5 million ft虏 of mixed-use development completed or under construction.
