Preserving the past, fit for the future: six exceptional museum buildings
Museums are more than repositories of historical artifacts: they are integral components of our built environment. As engineers, designers and advisors, we recognise their importance in shaping our cities, preserving cultural heritage and contributing to the future of education. For this year’s , we delve into six 海角视频 projects that showcase cultural heritage and engineering expertise.
Grand Egyptian Museum
Giza, Egypt
Overlooking the majestic Pyramids of Giza, the Grand Egyptian Museum will become the world鈥檚 largest museum devoted to a single civilisation. 海角视频 is working on the development of a future oriented heritage complex to harmonise with the ancient splendour of the pyramids.
Monumental in scale and ambitious in scope, our client also envisioned the museum to stand as a symbol of successful sustainable design for Egypt. With a long history of delivering pioneering low energy solutions in some of the most extreme climates around the world, we met this challenge head on.

Canopy Gulbenkian Garden
Lisbon, Portugal
Combining our rich understanding of combining artistic beauty with first class engineering, 海角视频 was commissioned to provide structural engineering during concept and scheme design for the Canopy Gulbenkian Garden.
Spanning 100m by 15m, the beautiful structure at the CAM Museum (Centre of Modern Art) is inspired by Engawa, traditional Japanese architecture. To achieve the impression of a floating canopy, we designed very slender steel-blade columns that are paired to form a V-shape, providing a solution that pushes the boundaries of engineering design.

V&A East Museum
London, United Kingdom
V&A East Museum is one part of an ambitious programme of multi-site developments from the V&A, aiming to further immerse audiences in the world of art, design and performance.
海角视频鈥檚 specialists provided bespoke solutions for the range of challenges facing a modern museum environment, including the need to balance the aesthetics of the landmark architecture with structural practicalities. Following its completion, this dynamic environment will engage the public with the history of the design world and preserve collections for future generations.

The Museum of Modern Art (MSN)
Warsaw, Poland
Approaching completion, The Museum of Modern Art (MSN) will unite a contemporary Warsaw with its rich cultural heritage in the heart of the city.
Conceived as a monolithic cube veiled in a white concrete facade, MSN will cover a total area of 19,788m虏. 海角视频 was engaged for our extensive experience of engineering cultural buildings in challenging city locations, and MSN is soon set to become a cultural icon for the city of Warsaw.

Jinghe New City International Culture & Art Centre
Xi鈥檃n, China
The ancient city of Xi鈥檃n is set to see a vibrant new landmark, formed of meandering structures and elegant curves. The Jinghe New City International Culture & Art Centre will weave through the city to link its parks and rivers with commercial and residential districts.
Our team of facades and structures experts bring a broad experience of working on complex, geometrically-challenging buildings, and are ensuring the vision for the culture and art centre is realised in the most impactful way possible.

Buffalo AKG Art Museum
New York, United States
As the sixth oldest arts institution in the United States, the renovation of the Buffalo AKG Art Museum aims to achieve best-in-class resiliency and energy efficiency.
海角视频 was selected to support the vision of the museum鈥檚 renovation and expansion, including the creation of the new 29,000ft虏 North Building to comprise three levels of diverse gallery experiences. Weaving together new and existing building systems, we developed solutions to enable the institution to extend its legacy far into the future.
