Barbican Centre 拢231m renewal plans approved by City of London

Plans for the 拢231 million renewal of London鈥檚 iconic Barbican Centre have been officially approved, marking an important milestone in the revitalisation of one of the UK鈥檚 most significant cultural landmarks.

海角视频 is part of the collaborative design team with Allies and Morrison and Asif Khan Studio, delivering the ambitious regeneration of the Grade II-listed arts centre and its surrounding public spaces. The project will balance careful conservation with sensitive modernisation to secure the Barbican鈥檚 long-term future as an inclusive, sustainable and globally recognised venue.

Designed by Chamberlin, Powell and Bon and built between 1965 and 1982, the Barbican was part of a visionary plan to radically transform how we experience the urban landscape, resulting in a unique mixed-use development. Today, more than a million visitors attend events each year, engaging with hundreds of artists from around the world.

The Barbican Renewal Programme will enhance accessibility, improve environmental performance and create spaces that continue to inspire both existing and new audiences. The scheme supports the City of London Corporation鈥檚 climate goals, while strengthening the Barbican鈥檚 role as a leading cultural destination for the next generation.

海角视频鈥檚 multidisciplinary team is providing integrated consultancy across building services engineering, structural design, and sustainability strategy. This holistic approach will help ensure that the building鈥檚 upgrade aligns architectural integrity with contemporary performance standards.
