Challenge
海角视频 advisory was engaged to provide an insight into how the client鈥檚 future-focused smart city aspirations could be achieved. We delivered a smart city plan and roadmap 鈥� a critical milestone in enabling the smooth implementation of each aspect of the development鈥檚 integrated digital technology infrastructure.
Our smart places, digital and data advisors would need to firstly assess the site and apply design thinking principles to understand the development鈥檚 potential audience and their possible journeys. This would enable us to determine potential touchpoints and define smart city use cases.
As an entirely new development, the site offers a unique opportunity to plan and implement data driven services that will allow the development to operate sustainably, safely and efficiently.
Our study was developed in close collaboration with the client, the wider design team and a broad range of stakeholders, to meet the development鈥檚 strategic goals: to meet the high aspirations of residents and guests at the development through innovative services, enhanced infrastructure and connectivity; to promote a sustainable urban environment and reduce environmental impact; and to harness data to optimise resource utilisation, enhancing the development鈥檚 operational governance and creating a bedrock for an integrated smart district.
Solution
The report is the output of several analyses from studying the pains and gains of the key stakeholders, or 鈥減ersonas鈥�, and their unique user journeys, consolidating prioritised feedback from various operational collaborators, as well as benchmarking the proposed services against other smart city projects from around the globe to guide the level of innovation being applied.
A broad benchmarking exercise was conducted, with close engagement with a range of discipline experts and a series of ideation workshops with key stakeholders helped to shape the digital goals of the site. The strategy particularly focused on five key pillars 鈥� smart administration and governance; smart living and leisure; smart environment and sustainability; smart mobility; and smart security and privacy.
The mission included enabling the utilisation of technology to promote operational excellence and efficiency and engages residents and visitors, responding to their needs and improving their experiences through the integration of cutting-edge digital technologies. Smart systems would help to manage the safety and security of the district, its residents, visitors and assets, without being unnecessarily intrusive.
The plan also seeks to provide residents and visitors to the district with smart, seamless and pioneering digital services throughout, including the enabling of low carbon transport and mobility, environmental protection and smart waste management.
Pioneering digital services mooted as part of the report included smart luggage management services, virtual remote tours, autonomous deliveries, emergency monitoring and integrated response systems, bioluminescent street furniture, drone detection systems, 3D city modelling, interactive art installations and smart washrooms.
