º£½ÇÊÓƵ worked with the University of Oregon Libraries on a transformative strategic planning process to position itself as a model for the enduring impact research libraries can have on academic and civic communities.
This five-year plan responds to evolving needs in teaching, learning, and research, aiming to create clear priorities, strong communication, and measurable success across seven libraries serving thousands of students and faculty.
Challenge
UO Libraries faced a rapidly changing landscape in higher education, with growing demands for digital access, inclusive spaces, and technology-forward services. Limited resources, aging facilities, and the need for stronger internal alignment created urgency for a plan that could unify priorities, foster equity, and adapt to future trends while maintaining excellence in research and learning support.

Solution
The team developed a flexible, actionable strategic framework through extensive stakeholder engagement, including workshops, interviews, and focus groups. The plan introduced a new mission and vision, articulated core values, and defined seven strategic goals supported by 26 measurable strategies. It emphasizes adaptability, equity, and innovation, guiding decisions on services, technology, and facilities.

Value
This strategic design empowers UO Libraries to enhance student success, accelerate research, and strengthen community engagement. By aligning facilities with vision, investing in technology-forward solutions, and fostering inclusive practices, the plan ensures UO Libraries remain a vital connector for knowledge creation and collaboration. It sets the foundation for sustainable growth and positions the libraries as a national exemplar in research and learning support.
