海角视频 announces validation of Science-Based Targets and offset of operational emissions

We are pleased to announce the validation of our Science Based Targets (SBT) and the offset of our greenhouse gas emission for 2019/20 in line with our net zero carbon commitments.

Our commits us to reduce absolute scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 21% by FY2025 from a FY2020 base year. 海角视频 also commits to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 40% in FY2020 to 100% by FY2025.

The targets covering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from company operations (scopes 1 and 2) are consistent with reductions required to keep warming to 1.5掳C and form part of our support for the through the .

What does this mean for our business?

We have started to refurbish our offices to reduce energy demand and we are progressively switching our global electricity supplies to high quality green tariffs. We have set carbon budgets for business travel and we are targeting a reduction in commuter travel through a hybrid work model.

Finally, we have offset our residual emissions (6002 tCO2e) through the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Portel Para (Amazon) project and planted 6002 trees in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. This approach aligns with emerging industry best practice to prioritise GHG removal using internationally recognised schemes whilst delivering further outcomes in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Leadership on climate change makes good business sense. Third party validation of our science-based target and the offset of our operational emissions shows that we are serious about demonstrating a leadership position, and helps show our clients how to set and deliver their own stretching goals.

Update

Following the publication of the SBTi Net Zero standard in October 2021, 海角视频 is no longer claiming to offset as part of a Net Zero strategy and changed our status to Carbon Neutral for our own operational carbon emissions in our Global Sustainability Policy statement published in January 2022.鈥
