海角视频 is providing comprehensive sustainability consulting for a dynamic new urban district in Berlin.
The Segelflieger Quartier Berlin is being developed on the site of the former Johannistal airfield by BAUWERT Segelfliegerdamm GmbH. Spanning over 21 hectares, this diverse urban district will feature a mix of residential and commercial uses, alongside attractively designed public spaces and a thoughtful urban development of the Johannisthal neighbourhood. The district boasts excellent connectivity to the Johannisthal S-Bahn station, as well as direct access via two new tram stations and various bus routes.
As sustainability consultants appointed to the project, 海角视频鈥檚 primary task involves supporting the certification of the entire district, as well as eight specific buildings. Additionally, we are providing overarching sustainability advice in a variety of areas including as EU taxonomy, life cycle assessment, and accessible buildings.
Challenge
The client aims to develop a sustainable urban district that meets high standards regarding sustainability, mixed-use, and quality of life. Our goal is to support the client in achieving these standards and to design the district as sustainably as possible.
To set new benchmarks, the project is targeting DGNB certification standards. Additionally, it is essential to comply with the requirements of the EU taxonomy and implement these throughout the planning process. In the construction sector, this includes various criteria for new builds, renovations, and building management. This approach ensures that construction projects are energy-efficient and climate-resilient.

Solution
海角视频 has been supporting the process since the project鈥檚 inception in 2021. Starting with workshops and concepts focused on sustainability, mobility, and energy, our consulting services have continually evolved.
Our expert team adopts a holistic approach to sustainability. The DGNB district pre-certification and the first building pre-certifications have already been awarded. Additionally, we conducted a QNG pre-screening with the client. Compliance with the EU taxonomy requirements is also a central focus. We agreed on the relevant goals early on and ensured compliance with these requirements in collaboration with the respective specialists as part of an overarching strategy.
Through early consulting and ongoing support, numerous sustainability measures will be implemented in the Segelflieger Quartier Berlin. A significant portion of the roof will be equipped with photovoltaic systems, while another large part will be greened. A substantial amount of demolition materials will be recycled and reintroduced into the resource cycle. Furthermore, we are promoting a natural water cycle based on the sponge city principle. Numerous trees will be planted, and we will ensure that no additional areas are sealed.

Value
海角视频鈥檚 expert consultants have ensured that sustainable design principles are integrated into the planning and implementation of the project from the very beginning. This will enhance the longevity of the district while also making sustainability tangible and achievable for the client and future residents.
