Partners HealthCare (Mass General Brigham) Administration Space

Somerville, MA, USA

海角视频 supported Partners HealthCare (now known as Mass General Brigham) with the development of a new 825,000ft虏 administrative campus.

Massachusetts鈥 largest hospital and physician organization saw the relocation of thousands of staff previously located across the Boston area. The development at Somerville鈥檚 Assembly Row brought employees together on one site, increasing productivity, reducing travel time between departments, and significantly saving in costs.

We provided building services (MEP) and fire engineering, as well as energy analysis services throughout the masterplan, program development and implementation phases of the project. Located on a former brownfield site, the office space features 4,400 workstations, conference rooms, collaboration spaces and an occupational health center.

Gensler鈥檚 integrative approach focused on operational efficiency, for a design that pushes the boundaries of the traditional corporate campus and positions the company as a progressive, forward-thinking organization. and energy savings were key requirements for the client. Our engineers carefully considered the design of the systems for the building to optimize operational efficiency. We incorporated LED lights, high efficiency water systems and lighting controls to minimize energy usage, while extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis was carried out to optimize thermal comfort.

To provide renewable energy to the site, our engineers worked with the project team to install a one-megawatt photovoltaic panel on the roof of the garage.

Flexibility was another important element of the project, to allow the heath care provider to expand or change the use of the space in the future without incurring large costs. To achieve this, we installed an underfloor air system in the new offices. This design allows wall configurations to be moved easily while also offering a high level of thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

The administration complex was one of the first LEED Gold Version 4 certified buildings in the northeast. As well as a focus on sustainability, the development was designed with the wellbeing of staff in mind, ensuring a workplace that will provide an exceptional environment for everyone who uses it. Partners HealthCare changed its name to Mass General Brigham in 2019.

The project team collaborated well to meet the aggressive schedule and the budget targets by using LEAN principles and being onsite during the entire construction process. This resulted in a very good value for Mass General Brigham and a highly efficient workplace for their administrative staff.
