Advisory, Higher education consulting, Strategy and operating model design advisory

Claremont Lincoln University partnered with the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy to create a new Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) degree and associated certificate programs. º£½ÇÊÓƵ was enlisted by the University to analyze the market for these new programs.

Our advisors identified why students would enroll, what they wanted to learn, how they wanted to learn, which region they lived in, how much they expected to pay, and how they saw Claremont Lincoln positioned in the market relative to other universities and other educational programs.

Challenge

Claremont Lincoln University and Lincoln Institute of Land Policy engaged the our strategy and operating model design experts to understand the market demand for potential students for a new conscious Master in Public Administration (MPA) and certificate programs.

This distinctive, socially conscious program would combine the unique Claremont Core® emphasis on mindful, collaborative change with the expertise of the Lincoln Institute to support adult learners who are working professionals.

Our market survey panel found what motivates students by ages to identify what is most important. Image: º£½ÇÊÓƵ.

Solution

Our market study combined broad and deep engagement methods including a market panel survey and a survey of Lincoln Institute members, workshops with CLU and LILP staff, and interviews with current students in other CLU programs, CLU alums, and diverse set of potential future employers.

The study identified why students would enroll, what they wanted to learn, how they wanted to learn, which region they lived in, how much they expected to pay, and how they saw Claremont Lincoln positioned in the market.

From this, our expert advisors segmented the market into learner personas and provided recommendations for pricing, which regions and metro areas to target, and how to leverage the Lincoln Institute brand and partners.

Value

º£½ÇÊÓƵ recommended ways to implement and communicate the programs in terms of their return on investment, focus on municipal governments, and opportunity to attract students for a second master’s degree – a larger market for MPA than first time master’s degree seekers.

Our team had the insight and flexibility needed to successfully enroll the first class of students on their way to leading social change.

We wanted something much more than a typical market study and brightspot (now º£½ÇÊÓƵ) delivered… The market study was invaluable in our understanding of who the learners are, what they want to learn, how they want to learn, how many prospective learners there are, and what the tuition should be. The team had the insight and flexibility we needed as a new partnership, and now we’ve enrolled our first classes of students on their way to leading social change.
