Robert Thomson
Project Director
Rob is an associate director in our cities project leadership team with over 20 years of experience as a civil engineer in infrastructure design and, more recently, project management.
He has led teams of engineers and co-professionals to deliver successful strategies and cost-effective designs that consider the ease of construction and the impact on construction staff, local people, and the environment.
As a project manager, Rob collaborates with and wins work for other disciplines, manages change control and ensures clients are aware of their obligations (environment, H&S, etc.) while working with them to mitigate risks to their projects.
Rob has been fortunate to work on projects with a variety of clients such as Sonangol, Rolls-Royce, CALA Homes and the UK Government, advising them from the outset about project risks and opportunities and how these can be managed, highlighting constraints and helping to guide the wider team.
Rob has presented at public consultations, taking questions and providing answers on topics such as flooding and access road construction, listening to the concerns of local residents and providing reassurance. Having been posted to Angola for six months on a port expansion project, Rob understands the complexities of working abroad with a multi-national team in a challenging environment.
