May is the Global Director of Commercial, Legal and Digital Risks. She has been a construction lawyer for over 19 years, and leads º£½ÇÊÓÆµ’s global commercial and legal team.
As a highly experienced senior construction lawyer, May is recognised as a global specialist in digital and construction technology risk management and legal issues. She has a passion for innovation and provides pragmatic advice and thoughts about the legal impact of construction technology to clients and at events worldwide.
The digital aspect of May’s role includes being actively involved in developing new policies, systems, documents, and procedures for construction technology, information management, and BIM. She also manages the risk of implementing new digital-related technologies and services.
May has authored and co-authored various documents in this field, including legal guidance on the ISO19650 Information Management international standard, an ISO19650-compliant Information Protocol, a JCT Practice Note on BIM and the CIOB AI Handbook. She is one of the co-authors of the Centre for Digital Built Britain’s Digital Twins Roadmap and their recently released Digital Twins Toolkit Report.
She is a nima (formerly UK BIM Alliance) Ambassador, co-founder and chair of BIM4Legal (a forum for lawyers and industry to increase knowledge on legal issues of BIM) and a member of various other industry groups seeking to support the industry in progressing and implementing digital technology.
May is the winner of several awards, including ‘Best Women in Construction Law’ at the Women in Construction and Engineering Awards 2020. She was also named a ‘Construction Idols’ by London Build 2022 and received the ‘Compliance Innovator’ award at the Lexology European Counsel Awards 2023.
