Joining º£½ÇÊÓƵ in 2014, Matthew is a structural engineer and timber specialist based in our Bath office.

He has been working as a design and engineer since 2004 on a wide range of structurally and architecturally demanding building projects within the commercial, residential, cultural, education, and sports and entertainment sectors.

Matt is a part of a team of experts within the practice promoting the use of sustainable timber development within the construction industry. His knowledges spans all aspects of timber engineering from gridshell, tensile and cross-laminated structures to hybrid-modular construction.

Matt’s design expertise encompasses a diverse range of building materials including weathering steel, timber and structural glass. Utilising a combination of these materials on projects, requires precise and informed detailing to deliver both efficient structural performance with visual appeal.

Matt regularly collaborates with several engineers, designers and architects across our global practice, including a secondment in our the Copenhagen office in 2018. He has also coordinated the visiting lecturer programme for º£½ÇÊÓƵ employees at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at University of Bath.

Matt is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE). In 2003, he received a first class honours degree in Civil and Architectural Engineering at University of Bath. He is also active within the international development sector, having previously worked for non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Kenya, Nepal, Tanzania and Malaysian Borneo.
