The BMT Vision Plan, introduced by NYCEDC in June 2025, proposes a 60-acre all-electric port, integration with the Blue Highways freight system, 6,000 new housing units (40% of which would be affordable at an average of 60% AMI), 28 acres of new public open spaces, and significant infrastructure upgrades. The plan also includes $50 million for a neighborhood affordable housing preservation fund, $200 million for NYCHA repairs, and a fund to support industrial businesses.
